What are Supplements?

Many schools require a supplemental form in addition to the Common Application. You MUST check to see if the colleges to which you have chosen to apply require supplementary materials to be submitted or essays to be written. You may find that information on the Common Application website: Go to “Download Forms,” find “Complete First Year Application Packet,” and then scroll to the bottom of the list and click on “College-specific Supplements” for more information. You will find a list, alphabetically arranged by institution. If the word “supplement” appears to the right, click on it and you will be taken to the link for the individual college. Sometimes the form is rather simple; others require additional essays and short answer questions. Often, the school will ask why you wish to attend that particular school. It is your responsibility to make sure that you complete all necessary additional parts of the supplement.
