Preparing for an Interview
Although many schools do not give you the opportunity to have an interview with an admissions officer, there are some that require or suggest it. Also, many schools offer alumni interviews so that you can meet a graduate of the school in which you are interested. That alumni will be glad to answer questions and will ask you questions about yourself and your interest in their schools
You also have several informal possibilities that will allow you to provide oral information about yourself as well as to demonstrate that you are informed and mature. An admissions officer may come to your school to speak about his or her college, and you may find that to be a perfect opportunity to help you stand out in a positive way. Or you may visit a school and speak with a professor or a coach
All of these interactions will make an impression, and it is wise to prepare for them. College Essay Whiz offers a wide range of questions, tips on demeanor and the opportunity to do mock interviews, either face-to-face or on Skype.
See what kinds of questions you might be asked as well as what information you might offer in either a formal or informal setting!
