Review your Facebook postings before you apply to schools!

“Took my AP American exam sooo stoned!”

“Almost got caught shoplifting the necklace I wanted.”

The College Essay Whiz will not deny that we state “Find us on Facebook.” If you check out our Facebook page, you’ll see lots of links to articles, information, blogs, and our own website. On a personal level, we also enjoy viewing photos and readings postings of family, friends and colleagues. It is puzzling, however, when we read postings and see photos that are in questionable taste, to say the least.

Aspiring college applicants might want to rethink some of their postings before they send in their applications. According to My College Admissions Blog:

“Many colleges and universities review social networking sites (i.e., Facebook.com) on which student applicants have posted information. If students have profanity, pornography, or immoral, disgusting or vulgar language and photographs on their internet social network accounts, and this information is discovered by college admission officers, the student may be denied admission to college.”
